Shops, all dressed for the holidays will stay open until

8 p.m. for Second Saturday. At the city tree lighting at 5:30 p.m. you will enjoy caroling by choirs all down at the end of Main Street next to the caboose and historic depot. Weston's own Father Christmas arrives this evening to begin the holiday season in Weston. Refreshments and souvenirs available.

We are pleased to offer a walking or driving tour of the historic homes and buildings in our pre-civil war town.

Pick up a booklet at the Weston Chamber, City Hall or the Weston Museum.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Festival of Trees

Weston, Missouri's first annual Festival of Trees, a fund raiser for the Platte County Health Department, will help launch the Holiday season on November 5, 2011.  

An abundance of beautiful and uniquely decorated artificial trees will be on display in shops and in one of Weston's historic buildings, at 523 Main Street, from November 5th to November 12th, when winning raffle tickets for each tree will be drawn.

Raffle tickets can be purchased at the Chamber of Commerce office, 526 Main Street. The price is $5.00 each or 6 for $25.00. Tickets should be deposited in your favorite tree's ticket box, at that tree's location.  

Every dollar raised will go to the Platte County Health Department to provide a basic Christmas for Platte County families in need.

A Festival of Trees Social will be hosted by the Weston Chamber of Commerce on November 5th from 7:00 to 9:00 at the Strickland Building, 523 Main Street. Tickets for that evening can be purchased at the Weston Chamber, 526 Main Street, for $15.00 or 2 for $25.00.

Drinks, hors d' oeuvres, and a silent auction of seasonal gifts will contribute a festive evening. Downtown stores will stay open late that night for shopping and viewing participating merchant trees.

CANDLELIGHT HOMES TOUR   

DECEMBER 2, 3 & 4, 2011

Enjoy 'all the best' of Weston's 30 years of Candlelight Homes Tours. For this anniversary tour, six beautifully decorated and historic homes will open their doors to visitors; two of the homes were on the first tour 30 years ago with different owners. Three homes are new to the tour. The 2011 tour includes 3 days of tour events. Friday evening, December 2 from 5pm to 8:30pm tickets include admission to the six homes on tour, and to a festive wine and hors d'oeuvres buffet starting at
6:00 pm. to 9:00pm. The hours on Saturday from 12:00pm to 8:00pm and Sunday from 12:00pm to 5:00pm.

"Through the Woods" 5K Trail Run / Walk

Parkville Nature Sanctuary

Saturday, November 5, 9:00 a.m.

For those of you who lamented the cancellation of the Parkville Days 5k, we've got something new for you! The "Through the Woods" run / walk will take place on the beautiful single-track trails of the Parkville Nature Sanctuary and on the grounds of Park University on Saturday, November 5, 9:00 a.m. Areas of the race will be technical, rocky and steep, as well as flat, gravel surfaces.

You don't have to be a trail runner to take part in this; you just need to love nature! Hot chili and apple cider will be served at the end of the race while you enjoy the roaring fire pit. All runners will also receive a commemorative soup crock.

 The run benefits Parkville's Christmas on the River. Christmas on the River is an event of the Parkville Community Development Corporation, a 501©3 charitable organization and Main Street Parkville Association.

Platte County Community Centers /YMCA Sports offers a variety of sports and leagues for all ages:

    Tween Leadership Club for ages 9-13

    Karate is available 3.5 yrs to adult

    Tennis for ages 4-30

    Young Adult Bowling  for ages 13-30

Flag Football is available for kids in Kindergarten through 7th grade. T

The role Platte County (MO.) played in the Civil War is the subject the art exhibit; will feature topics related to the economic, military and social engagements of Platte County during 1861-65, in conjunction with the 150th anniversary of the beginning of the Civil War. The exhibit will reflect on Platte County events and individuals who served in the military and on the home front, and engage visitors with the impact of the national events of 1861-65. To learn more
